GBA JOURNAL / GETTING STARTED

Your first badminton class: what to expect

A first class is a chance to discover the game and meet your coach. You do not need to arrive as a confident player. Share your previous experience and ask where to begin.

Make it practical.

Arrive early enough to find your court and introduce yourself. Your coach can help you understand the session, equipment and beginner activities. Focus on following one instruction at a time rather than comparing yourself with experienced players.

Your session checklist

  • Ask what equipment your batch requires.
  • Wear comfortable sports clothing and check the footwear requirements.
  • Tell the coach if any activity feels uncomfortable.

A useful next step

After the session, note one thing you enjoyed and one question for your next class.
