Confirm court footwear requirements
Ask whether the court requires non-marking indoor shoes and check that the footwear fits securely. A new player should confirm venue rules before using everyday outdoor shoes. Keep this question separate from choosing a racket, because the court may have specific access requirements.
Ask before investing in a racket
Find out whether a racket is needed for a trial and whether any equipment can be provided. If you need to buy one, ask for guidance suitable to your experience and budget. Do not assume an expensive racket will compensate for unfamiliar grip or contact technique.
Prepare a small session kit
Bring water, comfortable sports clothing and only the personal items you need. Label a child’s racket and bottle to make them easier to identify. Ask who supplies practice shuttles and whether there are additional equipment requirements for the proposed group.
Your enquiry checklist
- Player age and previous badminton experience.

- Current fees, session duration and equipment requirements.
